Where to host a small business app: Vercel, AWS or a ₹500 VPS?

Hosting choices confuse most owners. For a small business website or app, the answer is usually simple: managed hosting for the frontend, a small server or free tier for the backend. Here is how to choose.

Clients often ask whether they need AWS. Usually they do not. The right hosting depends on what the site does, how much it changes and who will maintain it. This guide covers the three options Acquiretech uses most and when each fits.

Option one: managed platforms such as Vercel or Netlify

Best for websites, landing pages and frontends. Deploys automatically from your code repository, includes global delivery and HTTPS, and has generous free tiers for small sites. Acquiretech's own website and the CRM frontend run this way.

  • Cost: free to a few hundred rupees a month for most small businesses.
  • Maintenance: almost none.
  • Limits: not for databases or long-running background jobs.

Option two: a small virtual private server

Best for backends, databases, CRMs and anything that needs to run continuously. A VPS at ₹500 to ₹1,500 per month, or a free tier from a major cloud provider, runs a self-hosted CRM, an API and a database comfortably for a small team.

  • Cost: low and predictable.
  • Maintenance: updates, backups and monitoring, which we automate and document.
  • Limits: one machine, so plan backups and know how to restore.

Option three: AWS, Azure or Google Cloud managed services

Best when you need scale, compliance or many integrated services. Right for larger applications with real traffic or strict requirements.

  • Cost: higher and harder to predict; small mistakes can be expensive.
  • Maintenance: needs someone who understands the platform.
  • Limits: complexity. Many small businesses pay for capacity they never use.

A simple rule

  • Website or landing page: managed platform.
  • Web app or CRM for a small team: managed frontend plus a small VPS or free tier backend.
  • Product expecting thousands of daily users or regulated data: a major cloud, designed properly.

What Acquiretech sets up

Cloud deployment includes HTTPS, automatic deploys, daily backups with a tested restore, monitoring and a plain-language operations note. Everything is created in your own accounts so you are never locked in.

Frequently asked questions

Can I move later if I outgrow a VPS?

Yes. Applications built with standard tools move between providers with planning. That is why we avoid provider-specific features unless they are needed.

Who pays the hosting bills?

You do, directly to the provider, from accounts in your name. We never resell hosting.

What about Indian data residency?

All three options have data centres in India. Choose the Mumbai or Hyderabad region when your customers are in India.
